The museum, and its relationship to the fort and oasis, as well as a number of historical layers and physical elements all informed the landscape design, including existing vegetation and trees, cannons placed on plinths, wells within the fort, entry and exit structures and a boundary wall that loosely represents the extent of the outer wall to the Fort. The landscape forms a key medium in expressing and revealing these historical influences and informing the visitor through the use of storytelling within the landscape.
